Natural – To say that the No. 1 Hillcrest state title hopes crashed in a loss to Montini 64-53 on Saturday in the Class 3A championship game at Redbird Arena will be accurate in every sense of the symbolic and literal.

There is great support and forth battle saw the Hawks put back in very late in the third period when the disaster occurred.

Senior Uniquah Hampton just the end of the game, and steal and pass to teammate Shannise impulsive basket to slide another 10-point deficit back to six. With 42 seconds showing on the clock, and tried to make another big defensive play against Montini for Whitney Holloway.

President for two collided head from outside the line at midcourt, and Hampton went sprawling to the plastic shield covering the tables and the media.

It emerged with hands on her face, was bleeding from the cut just above the long received her right eye. With blood dripping on the court, has helped Hampton on the bench. Eventually it was taken to a local hospital to sew up the wound.

Their leader gone, the Atlanta Hawks battled strongly to get within 48-44 at Samira Ali basket with 5:50 left to play. Montini but just did not stop to up to 3.

Broncos (33-2) fell 12 3-pointers a game – six senior Alison Seberger (18 points) – On her way to school, claiming the title of the first girls state basketball.

Dining with the completion of 18 points, Hampton 14 and 11 for Hillcrest (28-4), who became the first team to end the region as high as in the second case since Marian Catholic in 2002.

“We were the weaker party,” said senior Christine Marshall. “We played a good game, but Montini and a good ballclub, and we made it here, and we are in second place. This is not bad.”

What you have accomplished with Hampton on the ground to run over is debatable. How competitive it can be shown at the beginning of the game.

With impulsive banking snapshot Hampton swishing a 3-pointer, Hillcrest raced for the lead 5-0. Hawks stay in front of the entire first period and then go on a tear on the property which he scored the first six of a second.

The lead peaked at 27-15 after the end of the game by Yolanda de la Torre assistance from Hampton. Hampton is already fraught with a pair of 3-pointers for the Hawks, who were at that point 8 of the 19 from the field.

“Today we woke up and keep our minds focused on the game,” said impulsively. “I think we kind of stunned them, because in the previous game (against Oswego), we were not so hot, but we were ready to go today.”

After a timeout, Montini missed a 3-point attempt. On the other side, pushed de la Torre on the edge of the fire which rolled around and beyond.

The Broncos then went wild.

What could have been 14 points ahead of evaporation to one point deficit in less than three minutes. Atlanta Hawks 31-30 in front and back of the bird lunged with 28 seconds left in the half, but Seberger nailed to strike the bell 3 – pointer, pumping fist, and led the Broncos into the locker room.

Seberger hit two more treys and Whitney Adams (20 points) another during the third quarter of the increase in Montini, who went ahead by 48-38.

It was then that Hampton went to the driving position and started an inquiry by the Hawks back to the fateful collision with Holloway.

Hillcrest also took the court for the period from the fourth and Hampton was walking in a tunnel near the dressing rooms leading to a waiting ambulance.

Hawks have to go on without it.

“Uniquah taught us all to be strong and always choose the team even when things go wrong,” said impulsively. “And tells us that we must be strong for the team.”

And they were. In the end, the Atlanta Hawks have not been able to overcome the Montini on 3-point attack, but made things interesting early in the fourth period by stopping the Montini property and get the first three points in the next four to lean in transit.

“They clashed with the” Hawks coach John Maniatis said. “I think they fought valiantly to the last quarter, but hit a few 3s Seberger monster for them.

“Tip your hat to (Montini coach),” said Jason Nichols and his staff. They have done tremendous work. Spaced us out on the ground dramatically.

“They champion deserves”.
