A peek in the life of A celebrity make-up artist : Make-up artist Lisa Eldridge lives in north London with her husband, Derek Rubin. They have a son, George, 11, and stepson Luke, 13. Says:
I love my work. It led me to amazing places and put me in situations amazing.
I have been in a private jet with Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford and behind the scenes with and preparing for the night with Lily Allen.
But what I love more than anything is to teach real women how to put on make-up. Done right, it can be fully convertible.
Work ten years younger this is the first time that I saw how a real woman put on make-up, and I must say I found it shocking.
Most women do not even look at themselves correctly, it’s just to buy a shipment of products and slap it on everywhere – regardless of where they were actually in need.
I see women in the street and want to stop and say to them: ‘If you only want to brush the eyebrows …’
Over the first ten years of my work, I was traveling non-stop. I was always on a plane to Paris and New York or Thailand by firing on the fashion magazines or fashion shows. It’s very glamorous, but it is difficult to maintain the real life.
I remember Mary Greenwell, who is one of the world’s most famous make-up artists, and warning me: ‘Darling, do not forget that the children!
It really struck a chord. I did that when they became pregnant, and decided that a lot of work from home, and doing television work and shoots the studio.
