ISLAMABAD: The government is mulling over reducing the gas quota specified for sectors including CNG stations to ensure the gas supply to rental power plants, Geo News reported Thursday.

Talking to media after addressing CNG conference here, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Chairman Tauqir Sadiq said it is for the government to decide to prioritize the sectors for gas supply; but, the Ogra has nothing to do with it.

Brushing aside the impression regarding silence of distribution companies on gas thefts on large scale, Tauqir said the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) are persistently busy against the thefts.

He said the Ogra is not delaying to impose fines following the raids on various CNG pumping stations, adding the upper limit of fine is Rs50,000.
