Christiane Amanpour : World trotting CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour is leaving the network television news to become a pillar of ABC’s “This Week”.

Ms. Amanpour will fill the seat left open earlier this year when George Stephanopoulos on Sunday morning left the issues appear to become one of the anchors on “Good Morning America.”

“More than once over the years that we have spoken with Christian to join us in one position or another,” ABC News President David Westin said in a note to employees.

“Until now, it was not the right time or for the right, and we are fortunate that this time of the work of Christian and for us.”

Amanpour has been with CNN for more than two decades and was the face of the international network to cover most of the time.

Amanpour CNN leaves in April. And join the ABC in August.

ABC News’ Jake Tapper, will host “This Week” so Amanpour takes over.

In addition to anchoring “this week,” Amanpour will appear on other programs, ABC News, as well as consolidating the Prime Minister and documentaries on international issues.
