Kate Winslet bear at local summer fair
A HOLLYWOOD film star has donated a cuddly prize to the CHICKS teddy bear’s picnic.
Kate Winslet has given one of her teddy bears to be auctioned off at the Brentor-based summer event which is free to all the public and will take place on Sunday, July 12 at 11am.
The Titanic star is a patron of the children’s charity which helps deprived youngsters gain some respite by having an activity-filled summer holiday at their Dartmoor centre.
The fun-filled day will feature semi-finalists of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent 2008, dance act Flava as well as Freshly Squeezed, a seven-piece Funk and Soul Band.
Other performances will include the Plymouth Raiders Junior Cheerleaders, Tavistock Twirlers Majorettes, Cogs & Wheels ladies Morris Dancers and Shuffle the Deck Appalachian Dancers. There will also be a falconry display.
Organisers say the event is geared around all the family with children’s games including a teddy bear treasure hunt, teddy bear hoopla, teddy bear derby, pin the nose on the teddy bear and a bouncy castle, a pet corner and a magician.
There will also be Crealy Adventure Park and Build a Bear Workshop’s life-sized bears for the children to see as well as a bucking bronco, Inflatable Sumo Wrestling, plate smashing and coconut shy.
